Just Great Cards requires all entities providing goods or services to us—including vendors, service providers, and contractors (hereinafter referred to as “Suppliers”)—to operate with the highest standards of integrity and ethical conduct. This Ethical Business Practices Guide for Suppliers (“Guide”) sets out the minimum requirements expected of all Suppliers. It supplements each Supplier’s internal policies, legal obligations, and contractual commitments with Just Great Cards.
- Legal Compliance
Suppliers must fully comply with all applicable laws and regulations in Japan. This includes, but is not limited to:
- The Labor Standards Act (労働基準法) and amendments;
- The Act on the Protection of Personal Information (個人情報の保護に関する法律 – APPI);
- The Industrial Safety and Health Act (労働安全衛生法);
- Laws concerning tax, accounting, and corporate reporting;
- Anti-bribery, anti-corruption, and anti-money laundering laws, including the Unfair Competition Prevention Act (不正競争防止法);
- Environmental protection regulations under the Basic Environment Law (環境基本法) and related ordinances.
- Commitment to Labour and Human Rights
Just Great Cards upholds the principles of dignity, fairness, and non-discrimination. Suppliers are expected to:
- Prohibit forced labor and human trafficking: All labor must be voluntary. Suppliers must ensure compliance with Japanese labor laws that prohibit slavery, bonded labor, child labor, and coercion.
- Ensure fair compensation: Employees must receive wages, benefits, and working conditions in accordance with Japanese legal standards, including overtime, leave entitlements, and social insurance.
- Promote equal opportunity: Hiring and employment practices must be free from discrimination based on race, gender, age, religion, disability, or any other legally protected characteristic.
- Protect health and safety: Workplaces must comply with Japanese occupational health and safety laws and offer necessary training, safe facilities, and protective equipment.
- Upholding Ethical Standards
Suppliers must conduct all business dealings with honesty, integrity, and transparency.
- Anti-corruption: Bribery, kickbacks, and any form of undue influence are strictly prohibited. Suppliers must comply with Japanese anti-corruption laws and global standards where applicable.
- Intellectual property: Just Great Cards’s trademarks, trade secrets, and proprietary content must be used only with prior written permission and must be safeguarded.
- Data protection: If handling personal or sensitive data on behalf of Just Great Cards, Suppliers must comply with APPI and implement technical and organizational safeguards to prevent unauthorized access, disclosure, or loss.
- Accurate records: All records and statements must be complete, accurate, and kept in accordance with accounting and audit standards.
- Gifts and hospitality: Any gift or hospitality offered to Just Great Cards personnel must be modest and must not create any conflict of interest or undue influence.
- Conflicts of interest: Suppliers must promptly disclose any personal, financial, or other relationships with Just Great Cards employees or stakeholders that could create a conflict of interest.
- Environmental Responsibility
Just Great Cards is committed to environmental sustainability and expects Suppliers to:
- Reduce waste, emissions, and consumption of energy and natural resources;
- Comply with Japan’s environmental legislation, including proper handling of industrial waste and pollutants;
- Incorporate sustainable practices and support environmental innovation in operations and supply chains.
- Confidential Information
Suppliers must safeguard all confidential, proprietary, or sensitive information obtained from Just Great Cards. This includes but is not limited to: commercial strategies, pricing data, source code, technical documentation, and user information. Disclosure is only permitted if required by Japanese law or with Just Great Cards’s express written consent.
- Raising Concerns
Suppliers are encouraged to report concerns, suspected violations of this Guide, or unlawful conduct through Just Great Cards’s Compliance Reporting Mechanism or via their designated Just Great Cards contact. All reports will be treated as confidential. Just Great Cards strictly prohibits any form of retaliation against those who report in good faith.
- Enforcement and Review
Just Great Cards reserves the right to monitor, audit, and assess Supplier compliance with this Guide. Failure to comply may result in corrective measures, including termination of the business relationship. This Guide may be reviewed and updated from time to time, and any material changes will be communicated accordingly.
